Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Garrett is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist under the supervision of Sarah Garrick, LMFT. Garrett is focused on working with couples, adolescence and families. Garrett is passionate about therapy and assisting people in their growth and healing process.

He has interned and worked at Optimistic People in a Caring Environment, OPICA, Airport Marina Counseling Service, AMCS, and at Tulua Health in Santa Monica, California. He has experience conducting individual therapy online and in person and has led group therapy online as well as in person.

He is passionate about helping people and loves being of service to his clients. His approach to therapy is highly empathic and is client centered and strength based. What that means is he collaborates with his clients and learns from them what it is like to be in their shoes, and looks for the uniqueness in each and every client and the goodness and strengths each client contains.

His goal in therapy is to create a strong therapeutic alliance built on mutual respect and trust, with his clients so he can create a safe place for his clients to communicate their feelings, and insights. He appreciates each and every one of his clients and assists them to externalize and unpack their psychological issues so they can see them more clearly and gain mastery over them. His approach is holistic and he will use Psychodynamic, Narrative, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT, and other theories to assist his clients.

His interests include reading, traveling, and painting. Garrett earned a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and a B.A. in Economics with a minor in International Relations from the University of Southern California. As an undergraduate he studied during the summer at The London School of Economics, for a semester with New York University in Argentina, and during the summer with The Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University. Garrett has interned at The Wilson Center in Washington D.C., and has worked in the private sector in real estate sales. Garrett strives to be a good listener to each of his clients and help them build strength from the inside out. Garrett is active with the National Alliance on Mental Illness Westside L.A. chapter and has been an invited speaker, teacher, and support group facilitator. Garrett has also been invited to serve on an advisory board for various cutting edge research projects at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
