Maria Amador
Associate Clinical Social Worker - ACSW
Hi, I’m Maria Amador, a compassionate and resourceful bilingual social worker with over six years of experience working with underserved children, youth, and families. I earned my Master of Social Work at California State University Dominguez Hills and hold an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) credential, along with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) in School Social Work and Child Welfare Attendance.
Being fluent in both English and Spanish, I specialize in client-centered counseling and bio-psycho-social assessments, with a strong background in trauma-focused care and anxiety management.
My focus is on helping students navigate anxiety and related emotional challenges within the school environment. My experience in school social work involves creating tailored interventions to improve student attendance, behavior, and academic performance. I work closely with students and families, addressing the social, emotional, and relational factors that impact learning. Through individual and group therapy, I equip students with the tools to manage anxiety, build resilience, and foster emotional regulation.
I utilize trauma-informed practices, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and crisis intervention. I am deeply committed to creating safe and supportive environments for my clients, advocating for their needs, and collaborating with educators, administrators, and community partners to ensure their success. Additionally, I have experience working with foster and homeless youth, providing targeted support to address their unique challenges.
I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward emotional well-being!
