✅ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
Hi, I'm Maria De La Luz Soto, but you can call me Maria. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist currently licensed in California. My background comes from working alongside community mental health providers, a medical organization and I have well rounded experience working for a few private practices in the LA area. I have seen people both in person and virtually anywhere from Los Angeles, South California and across county lines like Ventura County and San Diego County. I have seen residents of Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and North California virtually. Personally, I have lived in all the counties mentioned except for North Cal and San Bernardino County.

I work with teens, young adults, and middle to older aged adults going through life transitions, anywhere from college transfers to major life changes, changes in career paths, losses, traumatic reactions, remembrance, and burn out, that requires you to see yourself and your needs more intentionally. My focus is on getting to know each person, their lived experiences, their culture, their feelings, their values, their hopes and dreams, and their needs and wants in life. I work towards openness, self-exploration, and meaningful self-awareness to get to the roots of each person, literally and therapeutically. As a professional and human- being, the purpose of therapy looks a lot like self- respect. I am that kind of therapist. I work on the self so that relationships of all kinds grow as I understand that trauma can look like loss of connection with others but most importantly with yourself. Therapy with me can look like becoming more skillful in self-reflection, regulation, decision making, and getting to know what works best for your mental health and balance. Personal wellbeing also means learning to place boundaries in a variety of ways.

My therapeutic focuses are working on self-esteem, trauma, how the trauma began and how it affects you physically, emotionally and interpersonally. I process through family dynamics including the good, the bad, and the love. I love to work on body awareness and positivity, focusing on the roots of binge eating disorder, coping styles, personality disorders like BPD, and depressive and anxiety disorders. I have personal interest in working with maternal mental wellbeing by respecting personal choices and beliefs, and work through post-partum depression, and women’s issues. I apply daily actions, cognitive skills, and practices from CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic therapies, strategic therapy, relational and psychodynamic concepts and interventions, with a person-centered approach and a strength-based lens. I use trauma informed practices, with a narrative influence to draw out a treatment plan that improves resiliency and supports overall wellbeing and maintaining yourself respect journey. I do work from a biopsychosocial spiritual approach to therapy and bring my personal style as I am me and you are you.

Currently, I am also growing by deciding on other professional certifications, practices that I feel connected to, and continuing to update myself on changes in the profession so that I provide these skills and updates to my clients.
