Trauma & PTSD Treatment

Trauma can continue affecting you long after an experience has ended. It can shape how safe you feel, how your body responds to stress, and how connected you feel to yourself and others in daily life.

Sometimes trauma feels obvious. Other times, it can look like constantly being on edge, emotionally disconnected, overwhelmed by certain situations, or reacting strongly even when you logically know you are safe.

At Find Your Balance Center for Growth & Change, we provide online trauma and PTSD therapy across California through secure telehealth sessions, with appointments often available within 3 days.

Our therapists provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care designed to help you feel safer, more grounded, and less controlled by past experiences.

✔ Insurance accepted, including Medi-Cal
✔ Benefits verified before your first appointment
✔ 100% telehealth across California

Understanding Trauma & PTSD

Trauma is not only about what happened. It is also about how your nervous system experienced and stored those events.

Trauma responses can affect emotional, physical, and psychological well-being in ways that are not always immediately recognizable.

You may notice:

  • Feeling constantly alert, anxious, or easily triggered

  • Emotional numbness or disconnection

  • Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or recurring thoughts

  • Avoidance of certain people, situations, or conversations

  • Difficulty relaxing or feeling safe

  • Strong emotional or physical reactions that feel hard to control

  • Ongoing tension, exhaustion, or restlessness

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop when these responses persist and begin interfering with daily life, relationships, or overall functioning. Trauma can result from a single event or ongoing experiences, and both are valid.

Signs Trauma May Be Affecting You

Trauma responses are not always obvious. Many people continue functioning while internally feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, reactive, or emotionally exhausted.

You may notice:

  • Feeling “on edge” most of the time

  • Overreacting while logically knowing you are safe

  • Difficulty trusting others or relaxing

  • Emotional detachment or numbness

  • Avoiding situations that feel emotionally activating

  • Feeling stuck in survival mode

  • Physical symptoms like tension, fatigue, or restlessness

These responses are not signs of weakness. They are often your nervous system trying to protect you after overwhelming experiences.

How Trauma Therapy Can Help

Trauma therapy focuses on helping your mind and body process experiences that continue to feel emotionally or physically “stuck.” In therapy, we work to:

Build emotional safety and stability first

Help you better understand triggers and trauma responses

Reduce the intensity of emotional and physical reactions

Process past experiences at a manageable pace

Strengthen grounding, regulation, and coping skills

You are never pressured to share more than you are ready for. Therapy is paced based on your comfort, readiness, and goals.

Our Trauma-Informed Treatment Approach

At Find Your Balance, our approach is rooted in safety, collaboration, and individualized care.

Treatment may include:

  • EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process distressing memories

  • Somatic Therapy to address how trauma is stored in the body

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge trauma-related thought patterns

  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques to support emotional regulation and nervous system stabilization

Your treatment plan is tailored to your experiences, symptoms, and emotional needs.
