A Successful Lunch & Learn: Eating Disorders & the Road to Recovery
There is something different about learning in a room filled with clinicians who are willing to ask questions, share perspectives, and connect around the work we do every day.
On October 2, 2026, Find Your Balance Center for Growth & Change hosted our Lunch & Learn, Eating Disorders & the Road to Recovery, in collaboration with Alsana.
The event brought mental health professionals together in Woodland Hills for an afternoon focused on clinical education, meaningful conversation, and connection.
And we are grateful to say it was a success.

Learning Beyond the CE Credit
Continuing education is important.
But the value of a professional training is not only the credit earned at the end.
It is the opportunity to leave with a stronger understanding of something you may encounter in your own clinical work.
Our featured speaker, Keesha N. Amezcua, MA, LMFT, CEDS-S, CDWF, shared her expertise on eating disorders and the road to recovery.
The conversation helped reinforce an important message:
You do not have to specialize in eating disorders to encounter them in your practice.
Clients may initially seek treatment for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, body-image struggles, relationship difficulties, or emotional distress.
Understanding how eating-disorder concerns may appear and when additional assessment, collaboration, or referral may be appropriate can help clinicians become more informed and responsive in their work.

Creating Space for Clinicians to Connect
One of our goals with the Lunch & Learn was to create more than a presentation.
We wanted to create a space where clinicians could:
Learn from an experienced professional
Ask meaningful clinical questions
Connect with other mental health providers
Strengthen referral relationships
Step outside their usual day-to-day routines
Continue growing professionally
Mental health work can sometimes feel isolating.
Opportunities to connect with other professionals remind us that none of us has to practice in a vacuum.

Collaboration Makes Better Care Possible
Events like this also highlight the importance of relationships across the behavioral-health community.
No clinician or organization can meet every need.
Building connections with professionals, specialty programs, higher levels of care, and other community resources can make it easier to identify appropriate support when a client needs something outside our individual scope or expertise.
Our collaboration with Alsana gave attendees an opportunity to learn more about eating-disorder treatment while strengthening connections across the mental-health community.
